PTSD, PTCD, PASD

I found this interesting the other day talking about the struggles women and men face after an Abortion.  Most of us know the common term now PTSD.  Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a disorder in which people continue to relive or face stress around some traumatic situation they face in life.  This can be the lose of a loved one, an accident, or even some huge disaster.  People have all different kinds of problems related to this.

PTCD (still not sure I have the letters correct) is Post Traumatic Combat Disorder some have related this to "shell shock" or Combat Stress Disorder.  But it is when soldiers or even reporters who have been in a combat zone continue to suffer stress.  This disorder can lead soldiers to relive battles in their mind.  This disorder is related to the difficulty soldiers have when they come back from War to familiarize themselves with home again.  This (I think) became more popular since desert storm and soldiers in the Middle East facing situations where it is difficult to distinguish friend from foe.

PASD is Post Abortion Stress Disorder.  I do not know of how many places this is used.  But I recently ran across this term.  Women, Men, Nurses, and Doctors are recognized to have this type of disorder.  Women who have had abortions will continue to struggle with stress caused from the day or procedure.  Men who have forced, or allowed others to abort their children will develop this stress.  (For men it can relate to not having a say or control or even guilt for influencing the woman's choice.)  Then there are also reports from Nurses and Doctors who develop stress over preforming Abortions, whether they were done in a clinic or a Hospital.

Theologically stress comes to most of us from guilt or fear.  I am not certified to categorize any of these people.  But I really thought about this with these three terms.  When someone suffers from PTSD, it is never the Doctor or Counselor who forced that Disorder upon them.  When someone suffers from PTCD, again it is not the Counselor or Doctor who talked them into it.  But when someone suffers from PASD, most often times [those in favor of Abortion and some others] will indicate that the Counselor or Doctor talked them into it.

One would hope in all these situations Christians would help these people to turn from their guilt to the one who loves them.  The one who has shown us what true love is, by laying down his life for you.  Jesus Christ has died for the sins committed in an accident or disaster.  Jesus Christ has died for the sins committed on a battle field.  Jesus Christ has died for sins people commit in a clinic or Hospital.  God has remembered these sins no more. Thank you.
