Movie: Superman Returns

It was great to see Superman return to the big screen. It was great because he embodied the same story of Superman we see all over the place. I don't know if you ever watched a TV Show called Smallville. But in the first episode he ends up hanging like a scarecrow with kryptonite around his neck. Superman was created by two Jewish boys, but seems to always wind up dying or close to it and rising again. Tell me how he either ends up in the pool of water with Kryptonite around his neck, or walking on to a island made of Kryptonite.

Superman Returns has Superman coming back from a trip back home. He has been gone for a while. Since he was gone, Lex Luther makes it out of prison, because Superman is not there to give testimony against him. Luther than reminds us of how valuable land is. Luther is going to create land. The Land of course will be created with Kryptonite, so Superman can not come close to him.

In this movie Superman will be declared dead. He will then after a couple days in the Hospital, just wake up and fly off. He comes back to life. He lives to fly another day. While most of the time he wakes up or revives to defeat the enemy. But here he dies in the process of defeating his enemy. He is much more a Christ figure in this movie than in any other. He dies to save the physical world. He then comes back to life. This was a good movie. Thank you.

The Death of the Holy Innocents

Many people die for what they believe in. Some die for righteous people. But these chosen few die on behalf of the one who will save us all. These children have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. But these children die on account of the Christ Child. Many people have been martyred because they confessed the faith. These children did not stand or even get a chance to stand. They were cut down because they were seen as the threat to King Herod. Rachael mourns for her children. Rachael died giving life to Benjamin near Bethlehem. Rachael now weeps as all the children of this town are slaughtered. But just as Rachael died giving birth to life. These children die to protect the Christ Child who left the town and will die to give all of us life. St Peter once said that he would not allow Christ to go to the cross. Biblical Marriage

Marriage is defined in Genesis as a man clinging to his wife and the two becoming one flesh. This definition is standardized even in the New Testament by both Jesus and St Paul. Therefore, we have generally said Marriage is defined as one Man and one Woman being joined together in a life long union. Most people think that this Marriage union is created through a man dressed in black and woman dressed in white walking down an aisle to be joined together before some kind of altar. But this is only a ceremony of marriage.
