Movie: Book of Eli
This was an interesting movie. If you have not seen the movie it was good. The action sequences gave you a thrill from time to time. There were twists and turns in the plot. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone.
If you have seen this movie, continue. I have a couple of problems with the movie. First, what is he listening to? He has this thing that resembles an ipod but they never tell you what he is listening to (unless I missed it). It is not just to amplify his hearing because he takes it off to talk to people. It has a battery that drains because he needs to recharge it.
Second, if you haven't seen the movie this gives too much away so stop reading. The Book is too thin. The book is about the same thickness as the one which is put on the shelf. I have always been a proponent of a President getting sworn in on a Brail Bible but it is because the entire bible would sit like a podium in front of him. I worked with some people making brail bibles, they printed just one book of the Bible and it was as thick as my The Lutheran Study Bible. Therefore, he most likely was only reading one book of the Bible not the entire thing.
But it is also interesting to see the sacrifice, then to be able to recount the entire bible. Even the Title of the Movie is interesting. Book of "my God" is the title to the movie. Eli helps to show an example of someone who is blessed or protected by God. But it is not until the end where he starts to follow the principles of Christ. He finally even with the Bible memorized starts to reflect that love toward others.
I would hope that all people would pour themselves into scripture like this. I wish I personally could pour myself into scripture like this. But I would also encourage you to go to Faith Comes by Hearing, not a ministry for the Blind but for all of us to hear the word of God read. I have always enjoyed having the Bible on my ipod. All in all an excellent movie. On last thing to see that this New King James version of the bible is placed along side the Tanak, Torah, and Koran. This book has caused Kingdoms to rise and fall. There is power in the Word of God, but there is also great power in just a simple prayer. Thank you.
