Modern Spirit screaming in a Synogague


Some people might find this funny, but I was really feeling this earlier today.  I was sitting in another Church body listening to a funeral sermon, and was doing all I could not to jump up and cry out.  I felt like the man with an unclean spirit sitting in the synagogue listening to Jesus. (Inverted)

The problem of course is that I really feel it was the Holy Spirit crying out as the word of God was twisted and distorted to proclaim a message of emotions and leaving out any substance of the Gospel truth.  It brings me almost to tears to realize that this must be why most people cry at funerals.

People are hearing messages about how great people are, when we know the reality.  Messages about God being with us, but never explaining how God is actually with us through Word and Sacrament. These messages leave people with the impression that death is the natural course of life, and God is there watching over us condoning our death (even in some cases blessing our death).

God does not desire people to die.  Death is the great enemy and the offense.  People need to hear a true message of hope through Christ crucified.  Jesus Christ has died and rose again as the first fruits of our own resurrection.  Let the Holy Spirit speak these words of truth.

I know that God will forgive me for not standing up in another church body causing great offense to my neighbors by proclaiming the truth.  But I hope God would help me to have an open door to do this in a better way than acting like an Unclean Spirit in a pagan temple. Thank you.

The Death of the Holy Innocents

Many people die for what they believe in. Some die for righteous people. But these chosen few die on behalf of the one who will save us all. These children have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. But these children die on account of the Christ Child. Many people have been martyred because they confessed the faith. These children did not stand or even get a chance to stand. They were cut down because they were seen as the threat to King Herod. Rachael mourns for her children. Rachael died giving life to Benjamin near Bethlehem. Rachael now weeps as all the children of this town are slaughtered. But just as Rachael died giving birth to life. Biblical Marriage

Marriage is defined in Genesis as a man clinging to his wife and the two becoming one flesh. This definition is standardized even in the New Testament by both Jesus and St Paul. Therefore, we have generally said Marriage is defined as one Man and one Woman being joined together in a life long union. Most people think that this Marriage union is created through a man dressed in black and woman dressed in white walking down an aisle to be joined together before some kind of altar. But this is only a ceremony of marriage.
