Praise: Designed to do

How do you show true praise to someone, or God? Most of us think that we are showing praise by fancy words, expensive gifts, or a sign of humility. But how do we really show praise? How does your computer show praise? You probably never thought about that one. You probably have thought about animals showing praise for one another or even for their owner (or maybe you consider them a part of the family).

Animals can show praise for their respective owners by doing what you bought them to do. Some animals we buy to lay eggs, or provide meat; others we purchase so that they will show love to us. Some people, I think, buy animals just for something to take care of. But how about the rest of creation?

How does a rock show praise? How does your computer show praise? How does your lawn or plants show praise? They show praise by doing what they were designed to do. A computer that is constantly crashing, is broken and needs to be fixed or replaced. A lawn that is full of weeds, needs to be re-seeded. A rock that acts like sand, is just plain weird. Nevertheless, all these things show praise by doing what they are design to do.

So now comes the difficult question, what were you designed to do? Look at your stantion in life: are you a father or mother? are you a son or daughter? are you an employee or employer? are you a community leader or follower? All of us have different places in our life, each of which have different responsibilities. But we praise our parents, children, community, country, and God by doing what we are designed to do. If you want to take a little closer look at those Ten Commandments, you might just realize what you were designed to do.

You were created by God for an expressed purpose to be one of his children.  He adopts us in Baptism to be his children. He claims us, or buys us with the cross of Christ. Sometimes we are broken and need to be fixed, or forgiven, or redeemed. Thus, we have God. What is our response to this? Let us Praise the LORD!! Let us do what the LORD wants us to do!! Thank you.
