Jesus without Wedding Clothes

This may be one truly crazy thought. But in Matthew 22:12 the man who is found not wearing wedding clothes is cast out where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. Most people talk about the people receiving these clothes as they enter the wedding feast. Therefore, this person has rejected the free gift of the Gospel. Many have been called but few have been chosen.

But it struck me in reading this that he is silent before the King. Now it is near Holy Week and I have been reading over the Passion of the Christ repeatedly. So it struck me to think of Jesus remaining silent before the Chief Priest and before Pilate the Governor. Jesus Christ when he is asked to defend himself he remains silent. The Lamb of God remains silent before those who accuse him. He takes the penalty upon himself.

Jesus is the one person who gives up his clothes for others to live. Jesus is the one who would shed is garment to give us life. He is the one who is cast out of the city. He is the one who is bound, beaten, and crucified. He is cast among those who are cursed as he is hung upon a tree.

But it strikes me as strange that this man does not have any defense for himself. Most of us would always have some excuse. Even Adam and Eve standing before God had excuses for their actions. They said something. But it is only Jesus in all scripture that I know of that when he is delivered before the rulers of this earth stands in silence. He says nothing and is lead away to suffer death on our behalf.

I would also point out in Matthew 22 the King has several different types of servants. They are slaves who are sent out. It is his troops or army he sends to destroy those who rejected him. And here at the end it is deacon or servant who binds this Man to cast him out. Thank you.
