No Hiding Place

There is no place to hide from God. The scripture tells us that God can be our hiding place. But from God there is no hiding place. It is very interesting in Psalm 139. "You alone know when I sit down and when I get up. You read my thoughts from far away. You wtch me when I travel and when I rest." "If I go up to heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in hell, you are there. If I climb upward on the rays of the morning sun or land on the most distant shore of the sea where the sun sets."

There is no place to hide from God. God is always present. God is there in the good times and the bad times. This can bring some great comfort. This can also bring some great fear. God is there when you are going to prison. God is there when you are getting married. God is there to bring you shame but also to bring salvation.

He takes care of us even to follow us to Hell. Christ does go down to hell and proclaim victory. Christ also ascends into heaven to reign over all his creation. He sees us when we are well behaved. He also sees us when we are lost and feeding pigs. Hopefully you know that God is present in your life. He is the one who takes us from death to life. Thank you.

The Death of the Holy Innocents

Many people die for what they believe in. Some die for righteous people. But these chosen few die on behalf of the one who will save us all. These children have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. But these children die on account of the Christ Child. Many people have been martyred because they confessed the faith. These children did not stand or even get a chance to stand. They were cut down because they were seen as the threat to King Herod. Rachael mourns for her children. Rachael died giving life to Benjamin near Bethlehem. Rachael now weeps as all the children of this town are slaughtered. But just as Rachael died giving birth to life. These children die to protect the Christ Child who left the town and will die to give all of us life. St Peter once said that he would not allow Christ to go to the cross. Biblical Marriage

Marriage is defined in Genesis as a man clinging to his wife and the two becoming one flesh. This definition is standardized even in the New Testament by both Jesus and St Paul. Therefore, we have generally said Marriage is defined as one Man and one Woman being joined together in a life long union. Most people think that this Marriage union is created through a man dressed in black and woman dressed in white walking down an aisle to be joined together before some kind of altar. But this is only a ceremony of marriage. The Bride and bridegroom are actually joined together through what is known as consummation, or proper sexual relations.  Thus, St Paul can even talk in reference to a marriage bed.
