Let's Celebrate Life

I often sit down and think about the great people in History. I think about writers and Political figures. I even sometimes think about Blacksmiths and carpenters that there is no record of ever living. People that get lost in the cracks. People who never had birth certificates or church records. These people who lived their life without any thought of being remembered. So many people whether kids or adults can tell you the name of Sports Stars or Actors. But how many of us know the Doctor who delivered you? How many people know the Pastor who Baptized you? I think about those people who have touched our lives so deeply in different times of our lives that we forget. Let us Celebrate Life and all the people God has placed in our life. He gave us so many different classmates in school (Grade and High School, even College). These people that helped to develop us into who we are today. Even your teachers who tried to mold those impressionable minds. But Celebrate the Life God has give you...

I Believe in God?

There are many Christians out there who say they believe in God. I am also told that all that matters is that I believe in God. Some will even say all that matters is that you have Faith in Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior. But the question in my mind is what does that really mean? I have to ask you is this really enough. I believe in Jesus Christ who died for the people of this world. Does that mean I believe that Jesus was God and Man? Does that mean that he and the Father are one with the Holy Spirit? Who is the God that you must believe in to be saved. You can simplify your faith to the point where you welcome in all people everywhere. Jesus says the way to hell is wide and I believe that we are starting to get these messages inversed. The way to Heaven is narrow. The way to life everlasting is very narrow. There is only one way. Jesus Christ true God and True Man one with the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. But when does our definition of Christianity become too simple...

Absolute Fiction!

Is there Absolute truth? Most people will tell you there is nothing you can know absolutely. Well I would ask you what your name is? But you would give some argument about relative truth. You may even talk about references to nicknames. You may take me someplace else. The old illustration of saying there is no Absolute truth. Then someone coming back will how do you know that there is no Absolute truth. You can not say there is no Aboslute truth without being an Absolute truth. But is there another way to talk about Absolute truth? I think there is. Someone once told me that Hitler was evil. Someone else told me that Mother Teressa was good. How can I determine whether these statements are true? Are these statements only true for the person who stated them? Do these statements apply to the world? I think if I took a straw poll I would find more people that agree with these statements than disagree. I think this means that there is a determining factor. All old women are good, and all G...

Who is Methuselah?

Who is Methuselah should probably read who was Methuselah, but maybe he is still living in the next step toward our final eschatological reality. Man of the dart, the son of Enoch, and grandfather of Noah. He was the oldest man of whom we have any record, dying at the age of nine hundred and sixty-nine years, in the year of the Flood (Genesis 5:21-27 1 Chronicles 1:3) Genesis 5 [21] When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. [22] And after he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. [23] Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years. [24] Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. [25] When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech. [26] And after he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. [27] Altogether, Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died. Dying in the Flood would have pointed to his sinfulness. The Oldest m...

Life Issues are Spiritual Issues

Whenever we talk about death it becomes a spiritual question. Because how you treat death tells us what you think about Life. If you treat death with honor and respect that is the way you will treat life. If you treat death as an escape then that is how you treat life as an escape from reality. How do you treat Life? I would hope you treat it as a precious gift. You treasure every moment. You cherish everyone who loves you, maybe even your enemies. Now is the time to ask yourself this question. Most of us treat life horribly. We take every moment for granted. We run from those we love. We always desire escape clauses because nothing works perfectly and nothing seems to last. People bounce from wife to wife or Mate to Mate. People never desire commitment because there is no escape clause. Even with sports teams, it is always the local team. When we move we leave that behind and pick up another team. Players also are easily transferred. This means we treat Death the same way. When life i...

How Old is your Guardian Angel (Part Two)

You can read the other post about how old your Guardian Angel is. You received your Guardian Angel when you became a Christian. But like I said before my Guardian Angel is older than I am and at the same time younger than I am. Maybe I was wrong about that second part. I have to ask when was I elected by God to be his own? When were Angels created? First thing is first. Ephesians tells me that I was elected before the foundations of the earth were made. Before God created me or the earth he claimed me. He knew me. This is a very profound statement, not by me but by St Paul. St Paul tells us that we are God's possession because he predestined us. This means he also must have predestined our Guardian Angel. If he knew I was going to be a Christian and he was going to call me to be his very own. He must have known I would need a Guardian Angel to protect me. Therefore, before the foundations of the Earth he knew he needed to create a Guardian Angel for me. God created heaven and earth...

How Old is your Guardian Angel? (Part One)

My Guardian Angel is older than I am and yet younger than I am. This just sounds smart right. But first I have to have a Guardian Angel. Do you have a Guardian Angel? When does one get a Guardian Angel? How does one get a Guardian Angel? In Luther's Morning and Evening Prayer it reads, "Let Your Holy Angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me." I have heard people say that this is not a Guardian Angel but the Angel of the Lord aka Christ. But this almost discounts the way God uses his angels. If this is Christ that means God only deals with us through himself. But God uses his angels to help people. He also uses his angels to reveal the message of God. Luther reminds us in more than one place that Angels and Demons are around us. Angels and Demons exist. They are constantly interacting with Humanity. Maybe in the sense of Touched by an Angel but also as invisible parts of Creation. They work to defend us from evil or lead us into evil. Thus, the diffe...

Does God have a Law?

The sermon this morning was discussing the Book of the Law. I wonder if God really has a Law for my life? If God is all powerful he would not allow us to break his law. If a Dictator had that much power he would not allow anyone to break his laws. He would rule them with an Iron fist and control all their actions. Why does God not treat his people in this way. More importantly those people that are not his people. Most of you would like to say "because we have free Will." But I really struggle with Free Will. I do not believe in Free Will as defined by most people. But this is something for another discussion. The point is that God does have a Law for our lives. He does care about what we do, yet he does not force us to do his Will. He reveals his will to us through His Word. God tells his people the many Laws that will help to make our life better. If we live according to this Law we will have peace and prosperity. The problem is that if we do not live in perfect accordance ...

Set Theory on the Trinity

Many Theologians are not Mathematicians. But Theologies are really into Science. For some reason there is a greater cross over between Theology and Science than any other fields unless you Separate Math and Physic into different fields. But Set Theory at its basic is the idea of taking sets of numbers or things and showing relationships. We see this in Matrices or Venn-Diagrams. Now Theologians generally speaking would use a Venn-Diagram to describe the Trinity. A Theologian would usually talk about three circles one being the Father and another being the Holy Spirit and the Other being the Son. Thus, where these circles connect that is then called God. But this means that there is part of the Son which is not God. Part of the Holy Spirit which is not God. And part of the Father which is not God. This is not true. Rather you take a list of Sets. Take Set God which contains all the attributes of God. Then you take a Set called Holy Spirit it would contain all the attributes of God and y...

How Many Churches Can I Join?

Some people do not belong to any churches. Yet some people belong to Multiple Churches. You will remind me that we all belong to more than one Church. But how many Church memberships can I have? When we ask what the Church is, it is often defined as a Denomination, Congregation or Building. The Explanation to the Small Catechism even says there are Visible and Invisible Churches. But how many can I be a part of? I do not think you are some kind of building material or wish to be buried in the wall or floor of your church. So we will have to exclude the Building itself. Next we have congregations. People join congregations and these congregations even may have different levels of membership. So you can belong. Denominations generally speaking are groups of congregations that join together. They may join together for different reasons but their membership is as far as I am concerned only Congregations not individuals. Thus, unless you are group of people you are not an actual member. Introduction

I have never had a blog before, but I have decided that I should take this opprotunity to share my thoughts or different insights to many theological issues. I will hope to make you laugh at times as well as give you insights into who God is. This will also be a place to discuss heresies and struggles with in our culture. The Church faces many different struggles in this day and age. The Church even faces the question of whether it is actually Church. Thank you for reading this. I will hope to be able to take time to reflect on many different theological ideas. I will put forth that I am a conservative Lutheran. I hope this will help you to understand who I am and what I confess. But please feel free to add your own thoughts (but do not be negative). Hopefully I will be successful in posting a different Crazy Theological thought each day. But if I do miss a couple of days I will do my best to catch up. You will note that some of these thoughts or most of these thoughts will not be made...
