Does God have a Law?

The sermon this morning was discussing the Book of the Law. I wonder if God really has a Law for my life? If God is all powerful he would not allow us to break his law. If a Dictator had that much power he would not allow anyone to break his laws. He would rule them with an Iron fist and control all their actions. Why does God not treat his people in this way. More importantly those people that are not his people.

Most of you would like to say "because we have free Will." But I really struggle with Free Will. I do not believe in Free Will as defined by most people. But this is something for another discussion. The point is that God does have a Law for our lives. He does care about what we do, yet he does not force us to do his Will.

He reveals his will to us through His Word. God tells his people the many Laws that will help to make our life better. If we live according to this Law we will have peace and prosperity. The problem is that if we do not live in perfect accordance to his rule our life will be full of pain and suffering. Now think about which category you fall into.

Hopefully you can see that you have not followed his Law in every Tiddle and dot. God has set forth a Law for your life. He desires you to turn from all sinful desires. These can be Sexual desires as well as hatred or desiring other people's possessions. These are also in our actions, but most of you would recognize when people do evil things.

We do not live up to God's Law for our lives. The only way we could live up to God's Law is if he actually did it himself. Now you may be able to make some Gospel Connection. But My point is not to take you there. I want to remind you as well as myself that we need the Law. It tells us who we are and who we are supposed to be.

God desires for all Mankind to live up to his Law. This means Man being Man and Woman being Woman. This means taking a hard look at our lives and asking the tough question of what we can do about this. I would encourage all of you to use your so called Free Will to act. Act not by your sinful passions or being blown by any wind of Doctrine but Follow the truth God has given us through his Holy Word.

Thank you for Reading this and remember that Jesus Christ is the one who fulfills the Law for Us. He is both God and Man who does the Law for us. I couldn't help but make the connection for you.
