Absolute Fiction!
Is there Absolute truth? Most people will tell you there is nothing you can know absolutely. Well I would ask you what your name is? But you would give some argument about relative truth. You may even talk about references to nicknames. You may take me someplace else.
The old illustration of saying there is no Absolute truth. Then someone coming back will how do you know that there is no Absolute truth. You can not say there is no Aboslute truth without being an Absolute truth. But is there another way to talk about Absolute truth?
I think there is. Someone once told me that Hitler was evil. Someone else told me that Mother Teressa was good. How can I determine whether these statements are true? Are these statements only true for the person who stated them? Do these statements apply to the world?
I think if I took a straw poll I would find more people that agree with these statements than disagree. I think this means that there is a determining factor. All old women are good, and all Germans with a tiny mustache are evil. These statements could be correct based on this information. But I am guessing that you may know people that do not fit these categories.
Hitler is not evil because he is Austrian. Mother Teressa is not good because she was a young lady once. Hitler was evil because of the way he lead the German people to War and lead to the death of a lot of people. Mother Teressa is good because she spread the word of God and the mercy of God to many different Countries. These statements may fit better into our Categories.
But in order for me to determine this, I need to judge them in relation to some standard. This standard can not be in direct relationship to only these figures but in relationship to all things which are good or evil. The standard can not be relative or subjective because we see that most people would agree and it has to be applied equally to both parties. I find this very interesting to say that there is Absolute Truth. This standard by which they are judged must be an Absolute truth. This standard then can be applied to you or me or anyone else in history. Think about the people like: Emperor Palpatine, Napoleon, Judas, King David, Julius Caesar, or Bill Clinton. How many of these people are evil and how many are Good? Are you not going to use the same Absolute truth you used with Hitler and Mother Teressa.
Hopefully you can see that there are Absolute truths in this world. If you need further proof think of the Laws of Mathematics. Sin Law, Cosin Law, Pythagorean Theorem, and others help to illustrate that they are prove to be true.
Thank you for reading this.
