so many starving children
Question #2: Why are there so many starving children in our world?
Deuteronomy 15:11 "For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, 'You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.'" The poor will always be with us. There will always be those who exploit others. These are the starving children in our world. These are people who can not afford to have food.
Logic will generally tell us to pick ourselves up. Teach these people to fish and they will be able to eat. Survival of the fittest would solve this problem by eliminating the excess population. Communism successfully showed us that allowing Governmental services to give these people food did not work because people still exploit the poor. There are always people who are starving, because there are sinners in the world. Is not this also the rub of Capitalism? The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. One could also ask most scientist in the world what do you do for your food. Marx would be surprised at all the leaches on our soceity. Marx also had a few negative words about religion. But my simple point is there will always be starving people.
Luke 6 reminds us, "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh." Jesus is reminding us that the poor and hungry are going to with us. These are reminders of the sinful world around us. But again it is the blessed hope that we have in Christ's death and resurrection. He is the one who will feed us with the feast of Victory. But here it is our duty to our neighbor to help each other. What are you doing to help the poor?
