Toothless Christian
Christianity has deep traditions and histories. We have seen as nations have risen and fallen. Christians have taken part in some the most powerful empires in our known history. There are other religions that have helped to forge great empires as well, but Christianity has survived. We have seen has the Roman Empire expanded fell, with the rise of the Holy Roman Empire. The Continuation of the Puritans in the United States, Great Britain, and France.
But in all these Christianity has had very sharp teeth. Christianity has had people who defend the truth over the centuries. This has been of great benefit. But now we find Christianity losing its teeth. They are losing the sharp definitions which they have held about what is right and what is wrong. The truth must be proclaimed.
People today must know that the church can not change just because people desire it to. The Church is something that was here before we got here and will be here long after we are in heaven or hell. The Church is not ours but Christ's church. We have variety in how we worship but not in what we proclaim as truth.
The truth is found in scripture. There are many people who believe we can change the interpretation of the bible. But the truth is that God is the only pure interpreter of scripture. Thus, only through the power of the Holy Spirit can we truly know the power of God. But we thus use the historical understanding of scripture and scripture itself to help us in this process. But if you have to choose between these two scripture itself is the best way to help.
In conclusion during the celebration of the Holy Trinity which is a mystery to us, we should remember that even though we don't understand something it doesn't make it untrue. The truth is revealed in Christ. He shows us that God is one and yet three persons. He also shows us many other truths about how we should live our lives. These truths while I will not be able to convince you of all of them, they are true. Truth is not something I decide, that is an opinion. But the Church of Christ must keep its teeth, the truth. Thank you.
