so much anti-scientific nonsense

Question #4: Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense?

I have a difficult time understanding this question. Most of what I find talks about there being pointless stories or insignificant information. Extra data that does not help to prove the point, this would be like a research paper with anecdotes and stories. I would think of Newton and the Apple or Mendeleyev discovery. Science often likes to give us useless stories, while at the same time prove very little.

Bible tells us many stories that separated from the whole seem insignificant. God gives us these same anecdotes in his review of facts. He also does show us very scientific points. The bible gives us the dimensions of the ark of Noah (Genesis 6:14-16). Also the instructions on how to build to tabernacle and it's vessels in Exodus. 1 Kings 6 even gives us descriptions of the building of the temple. 1 Kings 7:23-24 illustrates the use of pi in the scriptures, 10 cubit diameter to 30 cubits measured its circumference. Then in the New Testament look to the Geneology at the beginning of Matthew. Matthew points to 14 generations from Abraham to David, David to Deportation and deportation to the Christ. Even John 21:11 the number of fish is 153. Numbers are the purest form of science.

The numbers of people used in battles indicate the science. The numbers of people add to the church in Acts show science. Another thing you must look for is the categories of animals. God does give us a lot of extra information but this information does have a great value connected to the whole.

The story of Ehud being left handed illustrates the one man who could enter the king's chambers with a sword. The use of a tent peg to kill a king because it is the instrument at hand, Jael even chooses the soft part of the temple to drive the stake into his brain. Even the rules of cleanliness are something it took science until the late 19th century to figure out.

Anti-scientific nonsense is probably at the least the enemies' way of saying stuff I do not understand. It takes an open mind to read scripture and think about what potential these passages could give us. Where an ignorant or limited mind will not look past the words on a page, an open mind will look at the whole of the story. Jesus Christ does the most logical and scientific thing of all. He dies in the place of others under the sentence of death.
