Blessed are those who Suffer
Thinking about the concept of a Great Tribulation, I thought about Matthew 5. Jesus repeatedly tells the people of God they will suffer. All the people of God suffer because Satan is trying to destroy Faith. This is one of the key points to Job. You see that Satan is trying to cause the Saints to Suffer. He goes to great extents as he prowls around like a roaring lion.
Matthew 5:11-12, "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Many people want to make a point about falsely accusing you. These same people would point out it must be suffering on account of Christ.
Do Christians suffer on account of Christ? Do Christians only suffer because of their own sins? The answer to both these questions for me is yes. When you are a Christian that means your suffering is because of your faith. But all suffering is because we are sinful and unclean. Christ makes us clean, thus we suffer on account of Christ.
But the point here is that Blessed are the people who suffer. Because your suffering would hopefully lead you to come to Christ. Your Suffering could also lead you to strengthen your faith in Christ. Take notice also that all God's people have been persecuted. Those who remain faithful to God suffer because of their faith. Those who fall from faith suffer because they turned their back on God. Blessed are those who Suffer because God is calling you. Thank you.
