Resurrection v. Heaven

Today is Easter, the Day when our LORD Jesus Christ was risen from the Dead. He rose on a Sunday morning as the first fruits of the Resurrection of the Body. I have always been interested in people who believe they will go to heaven when they die. People seem to desire to go to heaven. I do not desire to go to heaven. I desire to live with Christ.

Christ Jesus shows us that he will not live without his body. Jesus visits with the disciples in his body. Jesus is true man and man is not just a soul but body and soul. God first formed the body and then gave that body life. So he will give our body life again. He will raise us up on the last Day. He will then judge the living and the dead.

This is why we confess in the creed I believe in the resurrection of the dead and the life everlasting. Eternal life with Christ is the goal. It is not heaven or living a long life on earth or in the land. It is the resurrection of the Dead and life everlasting. Easter is the day we celebrate the resurrection of the dead. Jesus is risen and we will rise on the last day. Our hope is not heaven but Eternal life in the Resurrection. Thank you.

The Death of the Holy Innocents

Many people die for what they believe in. Some die for righteous people. But these chosen few die on behalf of the one who will save us all. These children have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. But these children die on account of the Christ Child. Many people have been martyred because they confessed the faith. These children did not stand or even get a chance to stand. They were cut down because they were seen as the threat to King Herod. Rachael mourns for her children. Rachael died giving life to Benjamin near Bethlehem. Rachael now weeps as all the children of this town are slaughtered. But just as Rachael died giving birth to life. Biblical Marriage

Marriage is defined in Genesis as a man clinging to his wife and the two becoming one flesh. This definition is standardized even in the New Testament by both Jesus and St Paul. Therefore, we have generally said Marriage is defined as one Man and one Woman being joined together in a life long union. Most people think that this Marriage union is created through a man dressed in black and woman dressed in white walking down an aisle to be joined together before some kind of altar. But this is only a ceremony of marriage.
