Three Texts become One

Every Sunday I hear three texts read. All of these three texts have some kind of connections. Some people think about the Gospel lesson only. Some people think these texts are directly related to the Sunday. But for some of us we know that they are connected by the Word of God.

Take any three texts from the Bible. You can take texts from the Old Testament or New Testament. You do not have to take a lesson from the Gospels. But these three texts will have something in common. These texts will all point us to the truth of the Gospel. They will reveal a unified position concerning Scripture. All of scripture is unified. Jesus tells us the passages that talk about him.

The Old and New Testament are written for the same reason John writes his Gospel and the same reason he writes revelation. Jesus has instructed the writing of these books to show himself. God has revealed himself in many and various ways. He has done this so that he can also reveal himself in the one way, truth and life. Hopefully on Sunday you can see how the three become One. But if not then search for yourself throughout the week. Thank you.
