Salt of the Earth

What does salt actually do? Some point to the seasoning of salt, to add taste to your food. Some point to the use of salt to preserve meat or other foods. Some point to the salt of the dead sea. There are also additional people who take note of all the salts. When you add acid to a base you get Water and salt. Salt has many different compositions.

The Salt of the Earth is a special thing of the earth. In northern Africa people use salt to buy gold. Salt mines are worked because it is the most valuable minerals. Salt has value. In water throughout the globe water is contaminated by Salt. Is Salt a good thing or a bad thing?

Matthew 5 states, "You are the salt of the Earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet." Humanity is the Salt of the Earth. In the fall we have lost our taste or status. But how can this be restored?

When we come into this world we have lost the image of God. The Image of God is then initiated or given us again in our Baptism. The Salt of the Earth can be equated to the image of God. It could also be connected with the Name placed upon us at our Baptism. The point is simple. The Salt of the Earth are those people in a right relationship with God. They are restored in Christ. Thank you.

The Death of the Holy Innocents

Many people die for what they believe in. Some die for righteous people. But these chosen few die on behalf of the one who will save us all. These children have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. But these children die on account of the Christ Child. Many people have been martyred because they confessed the faith. These children did not stand or even get a chance to stand. They were cut down because they were seen as the threat to King Herod. Rachael mourns for her children. Rachael died giving life to Benjamin near Bethlehem. Rachael now weeps as all the children of this town are slaughtered. But just as Rachael died giving birth to life. Biblical Marriage

Marriage is defined in Genesis as a man clinging to his wife and the two becoming one flesh. This definition is standardized even in the New Testament by both Jesus and St Paul. Therefore, we have generally said Marriage is defined as one Man and one Woman being joined together in a life long union. Most people think that this Marriage union is created through a man dressed in black and woman dressed in white walking down an aisle to be joined together before some kind of altar. But this is only a ceremony of marriage.
