What would you Die For?
I was relaxing today and watched a couple episodes of JAG season 9. There was a case that caught my attention. Bud was looking into a Conscientious objector. A doctor was claiming that he converted to a faith that objected to War. Therefore, he could not be deployed to war. Thus, he wanted to be removed from the military. Now Bud being the smart JAG lawyer said he could be removed from all Military connections including his military insurance plan. The Doctor would lose most of his patients and most likely his practice.
The Doctor did have objections to the War. He did believe in his principles, but he was not willing to give up his life for these principles. What are you willing to give up your way of Life for? I say this because I think it is easier to die for something than to be removed from friends and family or even live in poverty. Now many Pastors may complain about living in Poverty but that is not real poverty.
Most of us do not recognize what real poverty is unless you are unable to read this Internet blog. People who do not have access to the Internet or standard living conditions. These are people who really struggle. People in the United States have no idea what real poverty is. I would hope that you remember these are extremes. The question really must be asked what would you be willing to have the unimaginable happen to you and remain in that belief.
I remember at my Confirmation I said that I would stay true to this faith even until death, well with the Help of God. The Holy Spirit is there to strengthen us in the true faith. Think about what you would have to go through in order for you to fall away from the faith. Do not think so simple of death or having your entire family taken away. Think about the unimaginable, the most horrible thing in the world.
This is the real story of Job. He does not just lose his family, house and wife. He struggles with a change of life style and poverty and disease. All the things Satan could image to do to Job must have been done. How easy it would have been for Job if Satan would have just killed him? So what would you live through for your God. I don't know the answer to this question.
Finally, I would just point out, this is why God can call us to do things we do not want to do. Like reading this. Thank you again.
