Another Racist Term: Guido

At a Basketball game tonight there were some College kids holding up a sign for Guido Fist Pump. Now I had heard of a fist Pump. But I have to say I do not watch MTV where the Jersey Shore has created this new dance called the Guido Fist Pump. Now at first sitting in the stands I thought these where just very unintelligent College students who did not know how to spell Ghetto. So I looked up the term Guido. It is a slang term for an Italian very common apparently in the North eastern United States. I thought they were called Dagos or Wops. But these are just more racist terms.

Now you may be asking yourself what does this have to do with God. God is a racist. Maybe I should say God is a culturalist. I love all the old jokes. I am not a racist I own a Colored TV. I am not a racist I discriminate against all races equally. I am not a racist my best friend is (insert derogatory Racial term). These can be funny but how true are they. The more you look at the world around you the more prejudices you see. All people are deep down racially discriminatory. Some people would say I am not a racist by maid is Hispanic. But these are not actual defenses. These only prove how deep racism is in our culture.

Guido is just another example of people taking a Racial term and turning it around. Just like African Americans horribly take the N word and turn it around. To uses these racist terms is to perpetuate the problem. Just like to use the term Jewed or gypped. These terms are offensive to Gypsies and possibly to Jews. But God is racist. Out of all the people of the world he calls the Jews. He calls only one nation to be his people. He still only calls one people. He only calls one cultural group. Now this group of people do cross other lines. Just like Gypsies cross boarders and Italians can also be Americans. This does not mean God is not a racist. The only thing you can say is that he calls people from every race to be a holy race. What does that mean?

I really just wanted to talk about Racism in America. We are all racist at one level or another. We all discriminate. There is another example of this in the Old Testament. But this may need to be saved for another time. We are racist. God calls all races to one culture. We are called together to be one holy people, rather than dividing ourselves. Thank you.

The Death of the Holy Innocents

Many people die for what they believe in. Some die for righteous people. But these chosen few die on behalf of the one who will save us all. These children have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. But these children die on account of the Christ Child. Many people have been martyred because they confessed the faith. These children did not stand or even get a chance to stand. They were cut down because they were seen as the threat to King Herod. Rachael mourns for her children. Rachael died giving life to Benjamin near Bethlehem. Rachael now weeps as all the children of this town are slaughtered. But just as Rachael died giving birth to life. Biblical Marriage

Marriage is defined in Genesis as a man clinging to his wife and the two becoming one flesh. This definition is standardized even in the New Testament by both Jesus and St Paul. Therefore, we have generally said Marriage is defined as one Man and one Woman being joined together in a life long union. Most people think that this Marriage union is created through a man dressed in black and woman dressed in white walking down an aisle to be joined together before some kind of altar. But this is only a ceremony of marriage.
