Can I eat Money?
This may be an interesting question for some of you. Especially if you spend a lot of time dinning out and spending money for food. Some people grow their own food. But here it is why do you spend all this money on simple food. Isaiah 55 says, "Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food."
Isaiah begs the question where do you spend your money. If you do not spend your money on food what do you spend it on. This is a very important question. But some of you may look at this text in Isaiah a little differently. Not just where do you spend your money but where do you put your trust. When you hunger or thirst where do you go. First, God opens his arms to all the hungry and thirsty. Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." God is there with his love. He is also there with his gift of Creation.
Second, you need not worry about chasing after objects or possessions. You do not need to chase after money. You also do not need to worry about bread. Use what God has given you to live your life. We can come to God with our arms opened wide and ask him for all we need for this body and life. God is there in his love to take care of us. He does not gives us any more than we need. He gives us all these blessings in our Life.
Can I eat Money? simple answer is no. You can use money to buy food which you can then eat. But all your treasures stored up in your barn are not what sustain life. Men lives by bread and water. Men live not just by bread alone but by every word that comes from the Mouth of God. The Word of God comes to us to give us water and bread.
Maybe this does not make a lot of sense to you yet. Read it again and tell me if it makes any more sense. Think about the Bread of Heaven, The Waters of Baptism, the Water that never dries up, and God as Creator. If it still does not make sense read another one it most likely will be better.
