Health Care for Christians

Luke the great Physician gives us two books of the Bible. Luke the Physician does not give us a health care bill but the Word of God. He also points us to the Christian Health Care. Acts 5:15 "So that they even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them." This Passage reminds us why people will take pilgrimages to Statues. If you could just be in the shadow of Peter you will be healed.

Is this not the true word of God? Does this not mean if I am a true believer in Christ I can heal others? Is there another way to read this passage? Well I do not care how you read the passage. If you take the bible seriously, you must find answers to these questions. But I have a better thing to point out. Mark also writes "and wherever he came, in villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well."

Peter heals people with his shadow. Jesus heals people with his clothing. Moses heals people by having them look at a bronze Serpent. How will you heal people? I will heal people by pointing them to the grace of God. God is the one who heals not Moses or Peter but Jesus aka God. The Christian health care is not about being in other people's shadow or touching old clothes. The Christian Health Care is the renewal of life. You may think I would say Baptism, but no the promise of God to Raise us from the Dead.

You may think it is still lent and we are not allowed to talk about the Resurrection. But if you look at how often Jesus talks about the Resurrection before he dies verses how much he talks about it after he dies. Sure St Paul and St Peter talk about His Resurrection. But Jesus points us to his death and Resurrection. Have a great week before Holy Week!
