What defines a Person?

Most of us are defined by our Jobs or hobbies. Others are defined by their family. We all have different backgrounds. But in the Bible we define people by their names. Abraham is our Father. Jesus is our Savior. Jonah is the Dove. David is the blessed King. All the names in the Bible have some kind of meaning.

But some people change their names. Others of us have no idea what our names really mean. Parents are even starting to name their children strange or unique names. I would urge you to keep things simple. Take you name seriously, and don't hurt your children.

I have never liked to hear people mispronounce my Name. I understand most people can not pronounce it correctly at first. but after you teach them they learn. But one has to take the time to learn.

How we define ourselves is on what we have learned. Some people do not question what they are taught. Others search out the real meaning. I am not here to give the meaning. I just enjoy the long journey for who I am or you are. The simple answer of what defines us is the one who created us. But this is still an on going process. We learn and add new things to our lives.

What defines you? Not just your name or your job will define you. Not even what you are taught defines you. But your relationships will also define you. Thanks be to God that he has claimed us to be his own. He can really define our lives. The community of believers we work with will define us. The people we love will define us. All these things define us but make sure we let God define us as well. Thank you.

The Death of the Holy Innocents

Many people die for what they believe in. Some die for righteous people. But these chosen few die on behalf of the one who will save us all. These children have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. But these children die on account of the Christ Child. Many people have been martyred because they confessed the faith. These children did not stand or even get a chance to stand. They were cut down because they were seen as the threat to King Herod. Rachael mourns for her children. Rachael died giving life to Benjamin near Bethlehem. Rachael now weeps as all the children of this town are slaughtered. But just as Rachael died giving birth to life. Biblical Marriage

Marriage is defined in Genesis as a man clinging to his wife and the two becoming one flesh. This definition is standardized even in the New Testament by both Jesus and St Paul. Therefore, we have generally said Marriage is defined as one Man and one Woman being joined together in a life long union. Most people think that this Marriage union is created through a man dressed in black and woman dressed in white walking down an aisle to be joined together before some kind of altar. But this is only a ceremony of marriage.
