Sermon on the Mount

Think about the numbers:
Breakdown based on the Nestle-Aland Text
v. 1-2 = 24 words
v. 3-12 = 107 words
v. 13-16 = 82 words
v. 17-20 = 101 words
v. 21-6:4 = 603 words
v. 5-15 = 174 words
v. 16-34 = 372 words
v. 1-14 = 250 words
v. 15-20 = 77 words
v. 21-27 = 162 words
v. 28-29 = 29 words
Note that verses 1-2 and 28-29 are not part of Jesus actual sermon. They are the text surrounding the text. But a professor once told me that you have to look at the center of things. But there are a lot of assumptions that you have to make to address that to the Sermon on the Mount.

If you exclude verses 1-2 and 28-29 then the center of the text is 6:8 the words "For He knows." But if you add these verses it becomes the next two words "The Father." If you are wondering about the breakdown I will talk about that later. Just crunched the Numbers 6:8 is the center expanded to verses 6:5-13. The central phrase is "For the Father knows." Thanks again.
