Speak to the Elders

Acts 20 has Paul speaking to the Elders of the Church. Who are the Elders of the Church? Are they like in the time of Moses those set in charge of 50s and 100s. Moses had these people deal with minor cases so he could deal with only Major problems. Are these the Watchmen to protect the people of God? Ezekiel, Habakkuk and Isaiah seem to be watchmen for Israel. They are their to tell them the truth about God.

The Elders are the leaders of the Church. St Paul is talking to those left in control. St Paul has those who are to protect the people of God. But this really means they are both. Ezekiel is one of the Watchmen. Ezekiel is one of the prophets. Ezekiel points out the False Prophets. They are all around us. But we need to learn the truth.

The job of the Elders and the Watchmen is to tell the truth. They are to discover who is truthful. They need to sound the Alarm when False prophets or wolves come to devour the sleep. They stand on at their post watching for the coming evil. They are going to protect those they are supposed to warn.

Think about these connections and the words that are used. I think it is important to recognize that these are the undershepherds and watchmen sent to fend off the wolves. Look out for the wolves, they are around us devouring the people of God. Thank God for those undershepherds and watchmen who call out the warning. Thank you.

The Death of the Holy Innocents

Many people die for what they believe in. Some die for righteous people. But these chosen few die on behalf of the one who will save us all. These children have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. But these children die on account of the Christ Child. Many people have been martyred because they confessed the faith. These children did not stand or even get a chance to stand. They were cut down because they were seen as the threat to King Herod. Rachael mourns for her children. Rachael died giving life to Benjamin near Bethlehem. Rachael now weeps as all the children of this town are slaughtered. But just as Rachael died giving birth to life. Biblical Marriage

Marriage is defined in Genesis as a man clinging to his wife and the two becoming one flesh. This definition is standardized even in the New Testament by both Jesus and St Paul. Therefore, we have generally said Marriage is defined as one Man and one Woman being joined together in a life long union. Most people think that this Marriage union is created through a man dressed in black and woman dressed in white walking down an aisle to be joined together before some kind of altar. But this is only a ceremony of marriage.
