Holding On!
There was an amazing episode of Criminal Minds last night. I just finished watching it and was forced to think about holding on. It reminded me of a House episode where a man was struggling with being able to let go. In the house episode a Man grabbed a boy falling through a hole while holding on to the boy with all his might his hand gets cut off. He suffers with pain because he still feels his arm tightly gripped to this child. He can not let go, until Dr. House takes a mirror and allows him to see both of his hands clutched tight and then lets go. All his pain goes away, because he is able to let go.
The amazing twist comes with the Criminal Minds episode, where parents had been distracted from holding their child's hand. While the parents were distracted, the criminals would kidnap their child who was no longer holding their hand. In the episode there are several Fathers who say, "I would have never let go of my her/his hand." The Fathers would have never let go of their child's hand. The Mothers on the other hand hold on to the idea that their children are still alive.
The one Mother who knows that about 90% of kidnap victims are dead in the first 24 hours, holds on to her son for eight years. The other more recent Mother holds on to her daughter being alive for a couple of days (as the episode goes). The Mothers who let go of their child's hand were not able to let go of their child.
John 6 states, "All the Father gives Me will come to Me, and anyone who comes to Me I will never turn away, because I came down from heaven, not to do what I want but what He wants Who sent Me; and He Who sent Me doesn't want Me to lose any of those He gave Me but to raise them on the last day." John 10 "My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me, and I give them everlasting life. They will never be lost, and no one will tear them out of My hand. My Father, Who gave them to Me, is greater than all others, and no one can tear them out of My Father's hand. I and the Father are one."
I don't know what else to do with this. Jesus can not let go of us, even as he has died. Jesus is also the one who may not being holding tight to your hand or mine, but he will not allow us to be torn out of his hand. We are his own. Thank you again.
