The Acceptance of Sin

How can the sinful give birth to the sinless? Mary must be without sin in order to give birth to the selfless child. The Child does not cry. The child that purely trusts would only come from the perfect Mother. This is our Mother the theotokos (Bearer of God). But in order for her to be blessed she must also be forgiven. She like Eve must be freed from her sin.

Mary is the Virgin without sin. Mary is the one who brings forth our spotless lamb. This all makes sense but at the same time Jesus needs to be born under the Law. Jesus must be born like the rest of us. The Bible does not tell us if he had a full 9 month gestation or how much he wieghed. These are not important but it is important to know Christ put on our flesh. Christ was conceived, born, and died. Oh, he also rose. Mary gives birth to Jesus like all her other children.

The miracle of the incarnation is great. Not only does Jesus' purity or Holiness over come the sins of life but original sin which Mary and Joseph passed on to all their children. If the spotless Mary was required by God then it would be recorded in Holy Scripture. Now that may not be the best argument but it does say Jesus was born as one under the Law.

Jesus was born under the same Law we all are. Jesus faces thestruggles all of us could face. To learn how to walk, put up with bullies, and deal with pain and suffering are just a few. Jesus lives that perfect life for all of us. This may be the simple way to remember the facts.

Don't forget the truth. Jesus died under sin. He died as the worst sinner of us all. He took all the sins of the world upon himself. Jesus becoms sin, the promised child from Adam and Eve. He is the second Adam who gives us life again. This comes not only through his death for all our sins but also in his Resurrection.

Here is the Celebration of Christmas. Christ comes into the world like all of us. He is the one who leads the perfect sinless life while all of us including the Virgin Mary have fallen short. He dies so that we may live and live for him as God created us so long ago.

Christmas can be a celebration of Acceptance of Sin. We are sinners. We accept the fact that we have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. He comes to dwell among sinners. He comes to dwell inside sinners especially in Mary his Mother.
