The Journey to Bethlehem

There are many who make the trip to Bethlehem. Joseph and Mary make the trip to Bethlehem because of a census by the Roman Emperor. This means that not only Mary and Joseph would be there but all their extended families. It is quite possible that the entire House of David and potentials for the Son of David or the Christ were in attendance.

Joseph and Mary Journey to Bethlehem in order to fulfill the birth place of the Son of David. Jesus will make many Journeys in his life but only two are really important this one in his mother's womb and when he sets his face toward Jerusalem.

Mary and Joseph do not have a place in the house because they are late and the rest of the family has already arrived. This is why the Birth takes place in stables of the House. It is not far from the City in some feed lot but it is in the City. The City would need its own stables for protection but each family may also need a stable house. This would be able to hold the animals which the entire family brought. Thus, Mary and Joseph still sleep with the Animals.

There are others also who journey to Bethlehem. The Shepherds from their fields near by make the trek into the City and the House. The Maji will also later find the Child still in Bethlehem. The Shepherds make their journey that evening. The Child is born and the Angels come to them telling them of the Good News. The Shepherds come to the place where they laid the Child.

The Maji come to the City of Bethlehem and enter into the House. They find the Child in a different location. The Journeys are not taking place at the same time. The First Journey is Joseph and Mary. The Second Journey is the Shepherds. Then some time later the Journey of the Maji. Not the Maji also make this Journey from Jerusalem where they stop to see the King.

All these Journeys take place surrounding the birth of the King of the Jews. Jesus birth place is foretold. The House of David is very important to the coming of the Messiah. But all this is more important only to point to the rebuilding of the Line of the King. The Journey is to raise the line of the Kingdom.
