The Journey to Egypt

The Holy Family flees to Egypt to safe guard the Boy Jesus. This event is used to fulfill Hosea 11:1. But Hosea seems to be making connect the flight of Christ to Egypt with Jacob or Israel himself going down to Egypt. Hosea refers to the Nation as the Son of God.

This connection reveals to us that the Nation of Israel can be directly correlated to Jesus himself. The Holy Family goes to Egypt as Israel Journeys to Egypt. The Holy Family leaves Egypt as in the Exodus minus the 10 plagues. The Holy Family also journeys back to Israel as Joshua leads the people in the conquest of the Land.

The Journey to Egypt may not be the best way to Celebrate Christmas. But this Journey to Egypt might be a great way to celebrate Epiphany. The Journey comes at the time of the Death of the Holy Innocents. The journey to Egypt is a Journey of Salvation.

Note the Journey to Egypt is of the entire Holy Family. Joseph awakes from sleep and takes the boy and is mother to Egypt. He rescues the entire family from those who seek the Child's life. Once those who seek the Child's Life are dead themselves the Holy Family returns. Amazingly later the Child will go to Jerusalem because those who seek his life are present.

The Celebration of this Journey is also a celebration of Salvation. This also reminds us that the Nation of Israel is equated to Jesus the Son of God.
