Is Christmas a Celebration of Mary?

Christmas may at times be a celebration of many different things. But how much time do we spend talking about Mary the Mother of our LORD during the Christmas season. Christmas time or Advent time is filled with discussions or presentations and discussions on the life of Mary.

The Mother Mary is praised in some denominations more so than others. Mary is thought to be the one who can talk to Jesus in a different way then others. Your Mother can talk to you in a different way than other people. Therefore, Mary ends up being celebrated around Christmas time in many different ways.

Mary the Mother of our LORD is celebrated as the Mother of our LORD. She is called the theotokos or the bearer of God. This is a celebration that Mary carried our LORD who is God and Man in her womb.

Mother Mary is also celebrated for her apparent singing ability. She sings what is called the Maginificat. This song is song when she goes to see Elizabeth. The Song of Mary is one that we repeat in our services to remember that we should be called blessed and the mighty things God has done for us. This is one of the great songs of praise which people in scripture just burst out in song like a Broadway Musical.

Mary is also celebrated by being a Virgin when she gives Birth. There is also the related argument that Mary was raped by a Soldier. Over the course of time people come up with many different arguments to either defend a perpetual Virginity of Mary or that Mary was never really a Virgin. People struggle with miracles or the Supernatural events such as the Virgin Birth.

There is a related issue to this as to how she conceives the Christ Child through the power of the Holy Spirit. People will put up different ideas and celebrate this event in different ways. But the real point is that Mary is Celebrated or discussed in these many manors. Mary is talked about as to how truthful people treat this miraculous event.

Christmas some years becomes a complete celebration of the character of Mary over against the Character of Christ. Christmas has become a celebration of Mary in all these different ways and hopefully we can discover how to see Christ through the figure of Mary the Mother of our LORD.

The Death of the Holy Innocents

Many people die for what they believe in. Some die for righteous people. But these chosen few die on behalf of the one who will save us all. These children have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. But these children die on account of the Christ Child. Many people have been martyred because they confessed the faith. These children did not stand or even get a chance to stand. They were cut down because they were seen as the threat to King Herod. Rachael mourns for her children. Rachael died giving life to Benjamin near Bethlehem. Rachael now weeps as all the children of this town are slaughtered. But just as Rachael died giving birth to life. Biblical Marriage

Marriage is defined in Genesis as a man clinging to his wife and the two becoming one flesh. This definition is standardized even in the New Testament by both Jesus and St Paul. Therefore, we have generally said Marriage is defined as one Man and one Woman being joined together in a life long union. Most people think that this Marriage union is created through a man dressed in black and woman dressed in white walking down an aisle to be joined together before some kind of altar.
