The Angel Gabriel
The ArchAngel Gabriel is the voice of God to as all on Christmas Day. The Angel of the LORD that appears to Zechariah tells him "I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news."
The Angel of the LORD appears to Joseph in a dream but does not give him a name. Many discussions have come about who the Angels of the LORD is or are? It is thought by some in the Pentateuch the Angel of the LORD is Jesus the Second person of the Trinity. It is thought by others that the Angel of the LORD here in Matthew is Gabriel but Gabriel is only named in the Gospel according to St Luke.
The Angel of the LORD also appears to Mary the Mother of our LORD. This Angel is identified by St Luke the Evangelist as Gabriel. The Arch Angel Gabriel therefore plays a prominent roll in proclaiming the Birth of the Christ. Gabriel is the one to comfort Mary when she is to conceive Jesus.
Gabriel teaches Zechariah and Mary both that all things are possible with God. Zechariah is taught that Elizabeth in her old age can give birth to a son. Mary is taught that even she who has never known a man can give birth to a son with the help of God.
The Angel Gabriel also is thought to be the Angel of the LORD who appears to the Shepherds in the Fields. But here we can be reminded the Angel Gabriel does not call attention to himself. The Angel Gabriel thought to be the greatest Angel some even thought to call him the Left Hand of God. But he does not proclaim himself but the birth of the King.
